When replacement is the right call
Rot at the bottom rail or through the frame. Delamination on a fibreglass or steel skin. A wood door that has cupped or twisted far enough that no amount of hinge adjustment brings it back into plane. Glazing that has failed and fogged between the panes. A door that has been cut down so far it no longer meets code or no longer seals.
Everything short of that list is usually a repair, and we would rather do the repair.
The measure matters more than the door
Most replacement problems are measurement problems. Openings in Calgary homes are rarely as square as the drawings suggest, and a door ordered off a rough tape measurement is a door that will need shimming, packing and eventually apologising for.
The on-site measure is where a firm price comes from. We check the opening in three places for width and height, check the frame for plumb and twist, check the sill for level and rot, and order to what is actually there.
