The replacement was a new six-panel slab, fitted to the existing frame from scratch: hinges mortised in clean, the handle bored, the door hung and adjusted for even clearance, then painted to finish. One detail worth noticing — the new hinges were matched to the existing hinges in the kitchen, so the new door doesn't announce itself as new. Start to finish, a job like this runs four to five hours.
